Tran Thuy Linh was born in 1964 in Hanoi. Early at the age of eight, she had painting lessons with professional artists of the University of Fine arts in Hanoi and also with her mother, a professional artist. Later, when studying literature at Leipzig University in Germany she continued her extramural art studies. Back to Vietnam after her graduation in 1988, she pursued her painting studies with Nguyen Thi Tam, a well-known artist and professor at HCMC University of Fine Art and has been become a professional artist.  Her works can be found in national and international exhibitions in Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, USA and Korea in recent years. Her private collections now are in Vietnam, Germany, USA and Singapore. Tran Thuy Linh works primarily in oil and acrylics and has been always seeking for the answer  “Where do I belong  to within the inter-relations of East nature - Serenity and Western culture - Energy?”. Her artistic communication is inspired by the experience of years in Europe, by the depths of Vietnamese culture and by the beauty of nature. The chosen style of semi-abstract and abstract painting gives her a sense of freedom, allowing herself to be carried away by impromptu and spontaneous feelings.  Using lines and shades of colors with large brushes and pallet knives, her works lure the imagination of viewer to the different world of himself and he would find himself part of it.

Trần Thùy Linh sinh năm 1964 tại Hà nội, bắt đầu vẽ từ khi tám tuổi, dưới sự hướng dẫn của các giáo viên Trường Đại học Mỹ Thuật Hà nội và mẹ chị, một họa sĩ chuyên nghiệp. Trong thời gian  theo học văn chương và ngôn ngữ  tại Đại học Leipzig/Đức, Thùy Linh theo học dự thính tại khoa Mỹ thuật và Lịch sử Mỹ Thuật. Sau khi trở về VN vào năm 1988, Linh học vẽ với Họa sĩ tranh lụa nổi tiếng Nguyễn Thị Tâm và  theo đuổi con đường hội họa một cách chuyên nghiệp. Thùy Linh đã tham gia vào nhiều  triển lãm trong nước và quốc tế tại Hà nội, TP Hồ Chí Minh, Mỹ và Hàn Quốc. Tranh của Thùy Linh cũng  có mặt trong nhiều bộ sưu tập cá nhân tại Việt nam, Đức, Mỹ và Singapore. Trần Thùy Linh sáng tác chủ yếu với chất liệu sơn dầu và acrylics. Trong tranh của Linh, rõ nét nhất vẫn là sự tìm kiếm câu trả lời cho câu hỏi: “ Ta thuộc về đâu trong bản chất phương Đông – sự tĩnh lặng và ảnh hưởng phương Tây- Sự sôi động?”. Hội họa của Linh  mang sắc thái  của Văn hóa Việt với ảnh hưởng của những năm tháng sống tại châu Âu, và một tình yêu thiên nhiên rất rõ rệt. Chọn phong cách trừu tượng và bán trừu tượng, người họa sĩ  luôn để  cảm  xúc và sự ngẫu hứng dẫn dắt.Với kỹ thuật ưa thích bằng cọ lớn và đặc biệt là bay, các tác phẩm của Linh khơi gợi cảm xúc và trí tưởng tuợng về  một thế giới riêng, mà trong đó người xem sẽ tự tìm thấy mình.
